Navaratri 2024: Oct 3, 2024 - Oct 12, 2024

Navaratri is a nine day festival, where the Goddess Durga is worshipped by followers of Hinduism.

Durga takes nine forms for the nine days. Durga is Goddess Parvathi who takes the manifestation in each of the nine forms. Navaratri is celebrated in every household for the nine days. Most families personify the festival by building up steps an adorn them with a theme of dolls from Gods and Goddess to farm scenes and day to day ordinary things in life as a display. The ladies and young girls visit friends and family sing songs and dance and enjoy the festival .

Navaratri & The Nine Forms

I have created these nine dolls with a lot of love and a lot of attention to details in honor of that festival which I enjoyed the whole time I was creating Her. One does not have to be spiritual if they have faith that’s all that ,matters, I remember my grandmother dragging me to peoples houses to see the Golu or display of the dolls, with great curiosity I would see them . This is also very familiar in the Japanese culture.
