Happiness is always Handmade

About the Artist

I'm Vani. My mission is to help you experience a spark of joy each day. Art is an expression of our imagination and our emotions. My art is influenced and guided by 3 principles:

  • First, I draw from various themes in Indian tradition – jewelry, patterns, mythology, cuisine, and music. These rich, sometimes ancient and sometimes modern, ideas permeate my work.

  • Second, art for me is about seeing possibilities in everything and using whatever materials are available. When we repurpose an item into something else, we’re only adding to the richness of the world.

  • Third, when I create something, it’s to experience joy. It’s about making connections, and playing with forms. It’s not only about the piece itself, but also a reminder to live life with this philosophy.

I’ve had the privilege of creating works for thousands of people, either personally or through my professions as a teacher, designer, or florist. People connect with my works because they appreciate the combination of traditional themes and modern sensibility.

If these ideas resonate with you, I invite you to join in. You can obtain an existing or a one-of-a-kind piece for yourself or as a gift for someone dear. I feel that happiness is truly handmade.
